Back from California

Before I get on to pics from our trip to see Blayne's folks I wanted to share a few more of the pics that Mom gave me from our vacation in GA. This is Uncle Lewis & Aunt Cupie's house. It's the "old home place" where Jane's mom and Cupie grew up-along with 10 other siblings. We were shown such wonderful hospitality!

Here we are round the table where I ate so much food!! Almost everything we ate came from Uncle Lewis' beautiful garden. It was delicious...fried okra, fresh tomatoes, corn and I also ate most of Aunt Cupie's delicious cookies.

Here's Jane, Roger, Blayne and I braving the Ocoee River. Lots of fun! My mom and Carol volunteered to watch Erin for the afternoon while we went on this adventure.

Erin's middle name is Elizabeth, which is from both sides of the family. Here are the two wonderful women that it comes from on Blayne's side-Aunt Cupie's real name is Elizabeth-she prefers Liz and that's Marie Elizabeth Colvin. It's so great to have Erin Elizabeth with two of her namesakes :0)

Now...onto to our trip to California which was last week. Erin and I got in on Friday and Saturday morning was the fly-in at Lake Riverside, where Blayne's folks live on the run-way. Here are Jane and Roger about to go up in the Tiger Moth to participate in the day's games-a balloon burst, a "bomb" drop (that's a toilet paper bomb) and a precision landing contest. Two guys parachuted down into the festivities and there were loads of planes and food and fun.

Blayne came in on Monday and he and his dad went shopping at Fry's-think gi-normous electronics store. They bought matching 24" monitors. Good times for father and son. On Tuesday Jane threw a brunch for us to meet and thank the folks who gave a shower for Erin back in January. We had such a lovely time. They have such dear friends.

Here's Erin enjoying Grandmother and her roses.

Here we are taking a walk around the lake. The birds around the lake are AMAZING! The white pelicans were already in for the winter, grey herons, loads of ducks and geese, red-winged black birds to name a few. I took Erin around the lake almost every day. The weather was so beautiful and clear til the last day when a fog rolled in and lent its own misty beauty.

After our walk around the lake Roger took me up in the Tiger Moth for a sunset cruise. We flew all around the valley as the sun set in the distance over the mountains-it was amazing! Flying in that plane is like being on a motorcycle in the sky!

Here we are returning from our sunset flight. You can see the pink still in the sky.

On Thursday Sue took me horseback riding! Here we are back at Jane and Roger's for pictures :0) Sue co-hosted the shower for Erin along with her new grandbaby who is a month younger than Erin. Her name is Lily and I've seen pictures and she's a cutie! Bailey was kind enough to let me ride him on this day and he cooperated (mostly) with an obviously inexperienced rider on his back.

Hope this finds you all doing well. I have some new video to upload from our video camera, but this will have to do for now. I've got a sinus infection right now (i know, surprise, surprise) but finally went to the doctor, so hopefully I'll get well soon. All the best to all of you!

GREAT photos, Deb! I love that you all are truly the adventure family. Tiny planes, white water, horseback riding. It seems like a thrill a minute and not even Erin is slowing you down! :) I wish I could have seen the bomb drop. Somehow that reminded me of Toomers. And the GA pictures were so special. I wish I had shots like that of my mom's family home. Love and miss ya'll!

Jealous about the plane ride during sunset. I can imagine that was thrilling. Loved your explanation of it being on a motorcycle in the air. I personally love motorcyles so I can imagine that being exilerating. Glad you had a great trip.
